About the game

Read the signal

SIGNAL is an atmospheric terminal mystery about reading transmissions, choosing channels and responses, and learning an undisclosed system through patterns, mistakes and the records left by previous operators.

Every incoming transmission is both a request and a clue. Players route messages, choose responses, record discoveries and decide how long to keep listening as the station's behavior changes around them.

Ruldae rebuilds its debut terminal mystery SIGNAL for Version 2.0

The first major update transforms the small experimental release into a fuller, more readable and longer-lasting operator experience.

Independent game studio Ruldae has announced SIGNAL 2.0, a free major update for the studio's debut game on Steam. The update rebuilds the way SIGNAL looks, teaches, responds and develops across long sessions while preserving the quiet terminal mystery at its center.

SIGNAL first launched on Steam in June 2026 as a small experimental game about working alone at a remote communications console. Players read transmissions from unknown sources, infer rules from the language and technical clues inside each message, then choose a channel or operator response without being given a complete manual.

The original release established that premise, but its presentation and first session did not communicate the idea as clearly as they needed to. Ruldae spent the following development period rebuilding the game around the part that worked: the tension of reading a signal, making a decision and living with the uncertainty that follows.

SIGNAL 2.0 places the live terminal inside a newly constructed station and CRT presentation. The main menu, gameplay, pause, settings, archive and statistics now belong to the same physical space. The first shift has been redesigned to teach channel and response decisions through actual traffic, while incorrect choices now provide clearer feedback without revealing the underlying rules.

Long sessions have also been expanded. Message repetition has been reduced, cycles have more distinct operating conditions, discovered patterns leave visible traces, and the operator archive now records exploration and replay goals. Players who remain at the console long enough can encounter three optional, behavior-driven outcomes. Recording an outcome does not end the shift, erase the save or close the line.

Version 2.0 also adds broader mouse support, an in-game control guide, reduced CRT and motion options, high contrast and message timing assistance. Save files gain verified backup and recovery handling, and existing high-cycle records continue without being reset.

SIGNAL 2.0 was released as a free update for existing owners on Steam for Windows PC on August 14, 2026.
